Say Hello

Yesterday I found out from Jackie that Uncle Erning passed away. Cancer sucks. Simply an understatement, but nonetheless, it is true. I know what her family is going through & wish I were in Australia to comfort one of my oldest friends. Uncle may not be my real uncle, but their family was so close to mine & we had such wonderful fun together. Every Sunday, after church, we would head over to their house. The adults would have coffee & chit chat downstairs, while the kids hung around upstairs in the rooms or ran around downstairs playing games like poison ball, & I think we even played Tin Game a few times. Such great memories. Sometimes mom, Auntie Puring and whoever else would all play scrabble. Those ladies, laughing & giggling downstairs & talking in Tagalog...they always made us shake our heads & laugh upstairs. Mothers. Mothers are always so cheesy ;-)

I wrote on uncle's wall & told him to say hello to my mom & dad for us. Jackie wrote in under that saying, "They can all play scrabble again." Funny thing is that I had totally forgotten they used to be avid scrabble-players. My mom & her scrabble...my dad & his chess.

I hope Auntie Puring is OK. It must be incredibly hard for her having lost her partner. He was the one taking care of her and doing the cooking. It's like having to get to know yourself all over again, but life goes on & time stops for nobody...& that is a *good* thing!
